MILESTONES AND MEMORIES
Helen Reddy scored her second US chart-topper when Delta Dawn hit number one this week in 1973.

Twenty years ago this week, Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head entered the ARIA charts at number one. It also debuted at number one in the UK. It got more than 3000 radio plays in one week in the UK – the first time this had happened. The single also went to number one in Germany, France, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey and Canada. It peaked at number seven in the US, and became Kylie’s biggest single ever, selling more than four million copies worldwide.

Twenty-one years ago this week, Kylie’s On A Night Like This entered the charts.

Jet released their debut album, Get Born, this week in2003. It would sell nearly four million copies worldwide.

Happy Birthday to Stephen Cummings and Steve Kilbey who are both 67 on September 13. And Jet drummer Chris Cester is 40, and Monique Brumby is 47, on September 16.

And we remember two ’70s legends who both died a year ago this week – Skyhooks founding member and guitarist Peter Starkie, who died, aged 72, after falling from a ladder doing renovations at his mother-in-law’s home in Shepparton, and bass player Tim Partridge (Sons of the Vegetal Mother, Mighty Kong, Company Caine, King Harvest, Kevin Borich Express), who died, aged 70.
