Country Radio’s Gypsy Queen entered the charts this week in 1972.
AC/DC released Back In Black – their first album after Bon Scott’s death – this week in 1980.
Air Supply’s The One That You Love hit number one in the US this week in 1981. It was one of seven consecutive Top 5 hits in the US for the duo.
Hunters & Collectors released their self-titled debut album this week in 1982.
Yothu Yindi’s Treaty entered the charts this week in 1991.
Thirty years ago this week, The Cruel Sea’s The Honeymoon Is Over entered ARIA’s singles chart.
Twenty years ago this week, Australian Idol started on TV.
Ten years ago this week, Perth band Karnivool scored their first number one album when Assymetry topped the charts. It came four months after singer Ian Kenny’s other band, Birds of Tokyo, had a number one album. He was the first singer to have two number one albums in the same calendar year with two different bands.
Happy Birthday to The Seekers’ Bruce Woodley who is 81 on July 25. And Ron S. Peno is 68, and Mark Seymour is 67, on July 26.
And we remember Darryl Cotton, who died of liver cancer, aged 62, this week in 2012.
